Garden Series

The inaugural show at the Loewen Studio & Gallery will be the owner/artist, Pamela Loewen’s Garden Series. This vibrant body of work, created over the past decade depicts spring and winter, jungle and desert, morning and night. The initial quilt of this series, “Winona’s Garden” was inspired by a request from her daughter. What Pamela thought would be a quick one-off design instead became a whole new direction in her work.

A garden is a cultivated space, a place where chaos is brought to order. The word garden is both a noun and a verb. It connotes planning, digging, planting, weeding, and watering as well as  structure, growth and beauty. Cultivation is about encouraging growth. Just as a gardener can choose which plants they want to grow, human beings can also choose what they want to cultivate in their lives. Ultimately this series is about cultivating joy by reflecting on beauty in all kinds of conditions and climates.
